ANNOUNCEMENTS

With heavy hearts, we announce that Douglas John Park, 67, left us on April 2, 2026, to be with his Savior in heaven. Doug will be remembered for his servant’s heart, his endless love for his family, and his goofy dance moves.

Born on February 17, 1959, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, to James and Marjorie Park, Doug was raised in Richmond where he lit up the Benedictine and Trinity Episcopal basketball courts and soared while competing in the high jump and long jump events. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from East Carolina University, Doug met the love of his life, Gayle Powers, with whom he shared forty wonderful years.

Doug earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy at the Medical College of Virginia and later completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy at Shenandoah University. During Doug’s thirty-seven years of practicing home health physical therapy, he provided outstanding care to thousands of patients. Doug served as a beloved deacon at Stony Point Presbyterian Church for thirty years and never missed an opportunity to offer an encouraging word or a helping hand to the community he cherished. No project was ever too big or too small for him.

Doug was a soft-spoken giant, strong and tender-hearted, generous with his love and his time, dependable, caring and selfless, persistent, curious and capable, serious and fun-loving, steadfast in his faith, devoted and passionate in his service to the Lord, humble and kind. A truly good man who was greatly loved by many.

Doug will be deeply missed by his wife, Gayle, his sons Eric and Sam (Laine Zammit), his daughter Lara, his sisters, his father, and many loving family members and friends who will always treasure his adventurous spirit and boundless faith.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Doug’s life at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 at Stony Point Presbyterian Church at 2330 Buford Rd, Richmond, VA 23235.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McShin Foundation (mcshin.org).
